Female Cria Guarantee Option

This option is only available for stud males wholly owned by Blackwood Alpacas. If the cria that results from that mating is a male, and you would prefer a female, you may exchange that male cria for another mating. You have up to six months to decide if you would like to take up this option.

If you choose to exchange your male cria for another mating, you may use any stud male wholly owned by Blackwood Alpacas and/or use the free mating on a different female. There is no limit to the number of times it takes to get a female cria and every cria comes with our seven day live birth guarantee. The only condition is you must bring your female to our property for all remates.

The cost to take up this option is $220.00 (GST Incl.) on top of the normal stud fee.

Please note: The live female cria guarantee option is not available for stud services used for embryo transfer and stud services won at auction.

Live Birth Guarantee and Remate Policy

Our live birth guarantee is the offering of a free remate if the dam does not have a viable cria.

Blackwood Alpacas will offer a free remate if:

• a cria is not born (absorbed, retained CL, etc.) or
• cria is born dead (premature, stillborn, dystocia, etc.) or
• cria dies within 7 days of birth.

Conditions apply: Every care must be taken of the dam, and the cria, before and during birthing. Should difficulties occur in the birthing and the cria looks unlikely to survive, please notify us as soon as possible. It will be at our discretion whether we extend a free remate should a full term, healthy, cria be born alive and die within seven days. We expect all due care to be taken of the cria.

The free remate may be to the same female or a different female of your choice. The stud male used to service the female may be the original male used or any stud male wholly owned by Blackwood Alpacas.
